For the Love of Make Up
i love make up! and had i not known one friend who doesn't like make up (at all!), i would say, "what girl doesn't?" but then yes. there's actually one person, and a lady at that, who doesn't get excited over lip gloss, cheek stain and the miracle that is concealer. i was really shocked when she said she's not into it. and that she doesn't even apply powder nor lipgloss when she goes to work. perhaps a little bit of baby powder to remove traces of oil but not pressed powder, blush on and lipstick. well, i am not saying every girl should be a fan of nars, body shop or mac. it just feels weird to know (or maybe it's just really me) that this particular girl hasn't even bought a tube of lipgloss ever since.
my fascination with make up started when i was in high school though i haven't started wearing them until senior college. i just started with the pressed powder and lipgloss combo and my high school best friend always made fun of me. then in college, i had more freedom to use cheek stain and masscara but i have never been the eyeshadow/eyecolor type of girl. i always end up smudging the colors on my eyelids because i have this weird mannerism of touching my eyes and lashes every now and then.
i don't wear much make up to work - just foundation, pressed powder, cheek stain, and lipstick. but when i am home, my face is devoid of anything. i just slather moisturizer all over my face to keep it supple. i rarely go out without at least a hint of lipgloss on my lips or else, i'd look sickly and pale. hahaha. i believe you don't have to go for the more expensive brands, what's more important is that you are hiyang with the product. what's the use of donning the high end products if you're allergic to it? over the years, i have discovered the perfect make up brands for my type of skin and i must say, they don't really create a big dent on my budget. i only have three lipstick tubes in my kikay kit and these are the ones that don't make my lips chappy and dry.
finding the tumpak make up shade and brand is just half of the story. looking for and finding that somebody who can memorize and glamorize every contour of your face is the other half. i am talking about having your make up soulmate - the make up artist who can turn you into a goddess, not the goddess' clown. i, admittedly, don't know how to prettify myself for a major ball or event that's why i am in this constant search for good make up people who won't terrorize my face. thankfully, it seems i have found him/her and that's big thanks to my friend M, who recommended S to me. i am also proud to have the great aileen siroy work her wonders on me during my cousin's wedding in tagaytay last year.
if i have enough time and money, i'd love to learn how to do make up. not really professional make up but at least, higher-than-the-basic-level make up. i know it would be fun and of course, i can save myself, and my friends, money when we need to go somewhere posh and fab. i can blab about make up the whole day and not get tired of it. hahaha. what inspired this entry? it's this amazing make up set given by my boss and his wife as their christmas present to me (picture above). they gave me my first "mini suitcase" two years ago and most of the contents of that suitcase are with my mother already because the colors and texture don't really blend well with my skin. now this second one is just perfect. i love, love the colors. ppip asked me what am i gonna do with all of it and well, a girl just couldn't have enough make up, could she? ;)

the next time i am home, let's have a make-up party! hehehe!!!
i don't wear make-up here. a lipgloss and blush is already too much. hahaha!!!
i love make up too! and yes, i absolutely agree that one can never have too much products. although one can wear too much of it, as evidenced by some girls you see. hehehe. =P
@ MommyBlogs: yes, a make up party where you can teach me how to do gorgeous eyes. :)
@ Patricia: hehe. i know what you mean, pat. and i cringe everytime i see badly-done make up or wrong-shade-on-wrong-skintone make up.
if let loose, i will buy every shade there is. i just want a complete kit. not for myself but for me to paint my friends' faces. i still can't stomach doing it professionally because gusto ko gwapa ako make-upan hahaha!!! =P
@ MommyBlogs: but isn't it a challenge na dili kaau gwapa imong make-upan but mu-gwapa sya? hahaha. i want to have a collection as well, nindut man tan-awon. my sisters used to be my models. hehe.
